Jardín de Texturas is an electroacoustic album composed, performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered by US musician Juan Dale.

This work comes in response to the question of how one interfaces with 'other,' or how one approaches a system which is separate and unknowable. The modular synthesizer presents a compositional challenge to those who wish to retain the sundry trappings of a historical musical lexicon. As electronic music composer Mark Fell writes, "we can redefine technology, not as a tool subservient to creativity or an obstacle to it, but as part of a wider context within which creative activity happens." Berlin-based electroacoustic composer Richard Scott similarly likens working with a modular synth to a conversation where "We [the modular synth and I] have to listen to each other."

Being the artist's first release, this is the beginning of a conversation, one which, it is hoped, begets parallel conversations between its audience and their subjective experience.

These pieces were recorded from improvisations with a Eurorack modular synth. Primary characters are analog complex oscillators, a linear feedback shift register, resonant bandpass filters, granular synthesis, and gratuitous guitar amp modeler parallel processing.

Juan Dale is the performance moniker for Ohio-based electroacoustic musician Jon Brewer. Modular synthesizers and their affordances are foregrounded in his largely improvisational work.
